Every year Council collects tens of thousands of tonnes of paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metal through the kerbside recycling service. These materials have now been recycled and remade into all sorts of new things including packaging items, toy parts, bikes, cars and even trains. Although this is a fantastic effort, we can still do better, and encouraging children to recycle from an early age is one way that we can make this happen.
