Unit two: Recycling

Brisbane City Council is committed to keeping Brisbane clean and green by reducing the amount of waste sent to landfill and increasing resource recovery.

The benefits of recycling:

• reduces greenhouse gas emissions
• saves energy and water
• conserves non-renewable resources for future generations
• reduces waste to landfill
• makes caring for the environment easy.

Every year Council collects tens of thousands of tonnes of paper, cardboard, glass, plastic and metal through the kerbside recycling service. These materials have now been recycled and remade into all sorts of new things including packaging items, toy parts, bikes, cars and even trains.

Although this is a fantastic effort, we can still do better, and encouraging children to recycle from an early age is one way that we can make this happen.

Before you start Unit two: Recycling

This unit will may take approximately 30 - 60 minutes to complete. Once you start the unit you cannot save your changes. Make sure you allow enough time to complete the whole unit.

Keep a notebook to record your notes as you go through the unit to avoid printing.
